Richard Forsyth practices in the areas of corporate securities, mergers and acquisitions, venture capital financing, and other complex business matters. He has handled numerous public and private securities offerings for companies in the electronics, bio-medical, real estate, and hospitality industries. He has represented domestic and foreign companies in international business transactions, including forming joint ventures and drafting distributorship, sales agency and licensing agreements.
Richard was the founding Chairman of the WORLD TRADE CENTER San Diego, a member of the Board of Governors of the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan, and Chairman of the Business Law and International Law Sections of the San Diego County Bar Association. He has taught at the University of San Diego's School of Law and speaks frequently on issues involving international business practices and corporate securities laws.
Richard received his undergraduate degree from San Jose State University in 1973 and his Jurist Doctorate degree in 1977 from Santa Clara University. He originally trained as a business attorney in Osaka, Japan, at the firm of Shiomi, Yamamoto, Yamaguchi and Azuma. He later was associated with Adams, Duque & Hazeltine and was special counsel to Luce, Forward, Hamilton and Scripps, both in San Diego.
Richard is fluent in Japanese.
